I started to make lace in 1987, when I purchased a kit. I learnt from a book to start with, but soon found a teacher. I knew I had found my skill set and when I saw a City & Guilds Lace course I enrolled with haste. This also prompted me to train as a teacher, to pass on these new found techniques, so I ended with City & Guilds Lace parts 1 & 2 and a BA in Education.

I was one of the founder members of 98 Lace and enjoy the support and encouragement that comes from being a member.

I relish the challenge of interpreting objects and abstracts using a variety of lace techniques with a deal of bending the rules.

One of the pieces featured here, ‘Shadows — Owen Jones Revisited’, was made for an exhibition of the Eastern Region Textile Forum.
