While working in Wisbech in the late ’70s I was taken to a flower festival where a lady was demonstrating lacemaking — wanted to try it.
Fast forward to December 1986. I was walking past our local art shop which had a Dryad kit in the window, so I asked for it for Christmas. I started teaching myself, then enrolled at the arts centre. After Easter, through my teacher, I joined Cleveland Lace Guild, where I met Ann Allison, and through going to the Lace Guild AGM I have met lots of people in the lace world.
Ann and Tamara Goulding invited me to join ‘98 Lace’ where I am enjoying expanding my knowledge of contemporary lacemaking.
